The defining tree of our specific ridgetop landscape. Massive corrugated bark. Large acorns highly preferred by deer and wild turkey. Tolerates thin, rocky, and xeric soils better than any other eastern oak. Our on-property trees represent a locally-adapted ridgetop ecotype unavailable from flat-ground nurseries.
